Honestly I am very sad that this post has to be my first post about my beloved country INDONESIA.
Today i read a news about an religion intolerance that happened in one of Indonesia's big city, BANDUNG. Supporters of Muslim organizations rally against the holding of a Mass at Sasana Budaya Ganesha Park in Bandung. The Mass had been scheduled for tuesday night before being canceled due to the protest.
Below is the article copied from TheJakartaPost ,
The Reformed Injili Indonesia Church in Bandung canceled a Christmas service at the Sasana Budaya Ganesha building in Bandung after a protest by dozens of Ahlu Sunnah Defenders (PAS) members.
“Please tell us what we should do so we can [worship here],” event committee member Didi Karnadi pleaded before the protesters.
The building is popular for public events in the West Java provincial capital with the main auditorium able to accommodate up to 2,500 people. PAS leader M. Roinul Balad denied that the group was intolerant of other religions. “Please just worship at your church, not in a public space,” he said.
Below is the short video from one of the congregation attendant,
As a Christian myself who lives in a Christian Majority City ( Manado ) , i have never experienced something like this. But there are sadly many intolerances like this happens to my other fellow Christians throughout my country.
The last few months Jakarta has faced 2 big demonstrations with thousands of muslim people because the Governor there is a Christian, and there was 1 people who edited his speech to make the muslim people offended. That person is now being interogated while the Governor himself also being interogated because of that issue.
I have tons of muslim friends in my hometown Manado who is very very friendly and we live in peach. Although i did have few muslim friends who are quite radicals towards their religion.
It saddens me to watch something like this happened. Why can't we live in peace despite our differences? why why??.....
The second news is about an Earthquake that happened in the west region of Indonesia, ACEH. As many of you might have noticed, Aceh is the place where the big Tsunami Earthquake killed nearly 200.000 people on December 26th 2004. It was 12 years ago. Wow time flies. And this time it strikes again, Same City, but Thankfully without Tsunami and lower magnitude.
Below is the news i copied from CNN,
(CNN)Rescuers are combing through the rubble for survivors after an earthquake Wednesday morning in Indonesia's Aceh province.
At least 97 people were killed, including young children, and 73 seriously injured, Maj. Gen. Tatang Sulaiman told CNN.
The shallow 6.5-magnitude quake damaged homes, shops and mosques in the district of Pidie Jaya, completely destroying hundreds of structures.
Additional medical personnel have gone to the region after the Pidie Jaya hospital was damaged in the quake, which struck as residents were preparing for early morning prayers.
Let's pray and hope that there will be not much casuality this time. Amen.
